Theme: Liquid Sunshine

In 2002 Morrisons received a prestigious design accolade of which they are all immensely proud. This show-stopping piece was designed by Peta-Ann Morrison and brought to life by Vere and the team at Morrisons Constantia Courtyard using almost 600 grams of 18ct yellow gold.

The Liquid Sunshine neckpiece made its debut at a star studded event in Johannesburg hosted by Anglo Gold. From there it travel to the US for New York Fashion Week.

The piece went on to grace the cover of Sawubona Magazine and the cover of Anglo Gold’s in house magazine Odyssey. Now it resides in the Anglo Gold permanent collection.

The designer: Peta studied jewellery design at the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad California under the tutelage of Robert Ahrens, the former head designer for the famed French jeweller Van Cleef and Arpels.

The other influence whom Peta credits is her father Vere. “While show-stopping design competitions are the perfect arena to demonstrate where your imagination can take you and explore design as art, from my dad I’ve learnt how to create jewellery that is both exquisite but attainable and ultimately that can be worn and enjoyed everyday if that’s what the client desires.”
