Morrisons began in 1946, when Irish-born watchmaker Charles Morrison arrived in South Africa with little more than a bench full of tools and a belief that fine craftsmanship could speak louder than words. He built his reputation the traditional way — through meticulous hand-work, honest dealing, and an instinctive feel for watches that earned the trust of families across generations. What started as a modest workshop soon became a name associated with refinement, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to beautiful jewellery.
His son, Vere Morrison, inherited both his father’s steady hands and his passion for the craft. A master jeweller in his own right, Vere expanded the family legacy by opening a store in Constantia Village, where his quiet expertise and attention to detail became part of the community. For decades he transformed ideas into heirlooms, until his eventual retirement and the closure of the physical store — a pause, rather than an ending, in the Morrison story.
Today the business continues through Vere’s daughter, Peta Morrison — a GIA-qualified gemologist and jewellery designer who carries forward the family’s devotion to excellence. With a deep respect for her heritage and a modern eye for design, Peta has reimagined Morrisons as an online boutique supported by private, by-appointment consultations for bespoke pieces, remodelling, and signature designs.
Every piece created today is rooted in the same values that guided her grandfather in 1946: integrity, artistry, and the belief that jewellery should hold meaning across a lifetime and beyond.
